Features:
- Smooth housing bore chamfers reduce bearing installation time and eliminate press fit loss due to the shearing of metal from the bearing OD
- Tooling for production of stamped housings should be designed to provide a radius edge which will act as a lead and furnish clearance for flange fillet
- Sleeve cylindrical journal bearings are commonly installed by press fitting the bearing into a housing with an insertion arbor
- For housings rigid enough to withstand the press fit without appreciable distortion and for bearings with thickness approximately one eighth of the bearing OD
- Proper running clearance for bearings depends to a great extent on the particular application
- Only minimum recommended clearances for oil-impregnated bearings used with ground steel shafting
- Oil-impregnated units should be stored in suitable containers using plastic bags, wax paper, metal, glass
